The Transmission Control Center (TCC) Floor Manager will lead the Area Desk team in providing safe and reliable operations for the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) in accordance with the NERC Reliability Standards, ITS agreements, and other established guidelines and procedures. The Area Desk team directs real-time operations, including daily switching to establish safe clearances for construction and maintenance activities, monitoring system alarms for loading, outage, or equipment issues, maintaining system voltages at reliable levels, and responding to system events to isolate faults and restore service to customers. The Area Desk team is also responsible for notifying affected stakeholders during system events and for directing field employees in performing switching operations during routine and emergency conditions. The Area Desk team operates 24x7/365 days per year. This position is responsible for a team of ~80 employees, including supervisors and NERC certified Power System Coordinators (PSC). Important aspects of the role include: Developing first line supervisors and all aspects of ensure safety and operational excellence, setting a vision, defining strategies for improvement, driving a positive culture, and all aspects of performance management. Ensuring the successful development of PSCs: progressing candidates to shift readiness and NERC certification, continuing education to ensure ongoing compliance with NERC CEU requirements, and Operational Readiness training and drills to ensure preparedness and compliance for all planned and unplanned events in accordance with NERC operating requirements. Leading floor operations during major storms and other emergencies, planning for major events, and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to support the success of their projects and events. The successful candidate will gain technical and leadership expertise in many areas of System Operations including safe switching and clearances, power system analysis, generation dispatch, emergency restoration, Energy Management Systems (EMS), renewables integration, NERC compliance, the Georgia ITS, and Physical/Cyber security. The successful candidate will build strong working relationships throughout Power Delivery, Southern Company, and with industry peers.
