About The Position

Xcel Energy Transmission Construction Department is seeking to fill an Apprentice Lineman (1st Year - 4th Year) or Journey Worker position in Amarillo, TX. This role offers a rewarding career in constructing, maintaining, removing, and performing storm restoration of high voltage transmission lines. Xcel Energy boasts a reputable Department of Labor certified apprentice program. The position is responsible for construction, maintenance, and operations, and supports maintenance and emergency repairs of transmission lines.

Requirements

Must have a High School diploma or GED (Apprentice)
Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date (Apprentice)
Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment (Apprentice)
Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service (Apprentice)
Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs (Apprentice)
Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods (Apprentice)
Apprentices are required to attend 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentice schools (Apprentice)
Must be mentally competent, able to communicate and able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experience (Apprentice)
Must exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with others (Apprentice)
Must be of adequate physical stature to Lift and maneuver up to 90 lbs. (Apprentice)
Climb wood poles up to 100' tall (Apprentice)
Perform aerial work in a safety belt in a safe and efficient manner (Apprentice)
Use shovels, sledgehammers and 90 lb. jack hammers (Apprentice)
Work in confined areas (Apprentice)
Must pass the federal DOT physical examination (Apprentice)
Must complete all questions in application and upload a resume for consideration (Apprentice)
Must successfully score on the Journeyman Assessment (Journeyman)
Completion of an approved apprentice line program is required or 5 years of progressive electric lineman experience (Journeyman)
Must have a Class A CDL (Journeyman)
Must be capable of performing all aspects of electric transmission overhead, underground, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting (Journeyman)
Must be available for emergency call-outs as per a schedule (Journeyman)
Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written) (Journeyman)
Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods (Journeyman)
Must be physically fit and able to lift objects up to 90 pounds, pass a physical examination and be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of conditions (Journeyman)
Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and groundwork with utility line crew required (Journeyman)
A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times (Journeyman)
Must pass the Xcel Energy security and drug screening
Adhere to cybersecurity policies, standards, and best practices

Responsibilities
