About The Position

North American Rail Solutions (NARS) is seeking individuals to join our team as a Transloader. In this role, the transloading team will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading hazardous and non-hazardous products, and ensuring all railcars are properly inspected to ensure we are compliant with the customer, company, FRA, and OSHA requirements at our customer terminals. Successful candidates are hardworking, punctual, and efficient in their daily duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking and quick decision making to be able to respond to both emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
  • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.

  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and good observational skills.
  • Must be able to pass required training and testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with no suspension within the last 3 years.

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day, to include walking several miles per day.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, crawl, and work on elevated surfaces.
  • Must have good vision acuity to see in poorly lit to dark environments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with terminal management and/or customer representatives for daily duties engaged with transloading of product.
  • Effectively and safely load and unload products to and from railcars according to procedures which include propylene, diesel fuel, crude, gasoline, and other hazardous materials.
  • Foster growth and development of a safety-first culture among all employees.
  • Perform required pre-job and/or daily inspections including couplings and air-hoses to ensure that they are securely fastened, railcars for safety defects, equipment defects or leaks, as well as locomotives for safe operations.
  • Perform basic maintenance within the facility including checking fluids, refilling fluids, changing gaskets, etc.
  • Perform weekly rack infrastructure audits to ensure safe operations of loading/offloading.
  • Act as a safety liaison to ensure all employees are wearing/maintaining PPE, following proper procedures, etc.
  • Uses various hand and power tools.
  • All other duties as assigned.
