About The Position

The translator works as part of the health center care team and assists the clinical team in the provision of primary health care. They will act as a member of the Care Team and work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to provide for the health and well-being of the patients. Employee will translate as needed in both the clinical and non- clinical areas, and be cross trained to work in the front offices. Patient Relationships: 1. When translating for a patient, the employee will ensure privacy and confidentiality, maintain the dignity of the patient, and ensure the patient understands all communications regarding care. 2. Answers messages and phone calls efficiently and properly documents. 3. Will work with front office team to assist with eligibility, registrations and other front office duties as assigned when not translating. 4. Other duties as assigned. Employee Relations/Team Support: 1. Employee will also work as needed in the front office, registering patients in and checking them out, when their visit is complete. 2. Actively participates in clinic staff meetings and other committees when designated. Expectations: 1. All patients will be treated with dignity and compassion. 2. Employee will assist in providing care to patients without creating additional barriers for them. 3. Employee will promote a positive attitude. 4. Employee will maintain a professional atmosphere in the clinic, and promoting this Organization in a positive manner in the community. 5. Ensure a safe environment of care for patients and staff. 6. Employee is to be punctual, and aware of excessive absenteeism. 7. Treat co-workers and patients with respect. 8. Maintain a clean and organized workplace including exam rooms, office areas, and break room. 9. Must be a team player with a commitment to the team meetings, as well as policies of this organization. 10. Employee is expected to adhere to the Organization’s dress code and present to work in a professional manner. 11. Employee should interact with patients in a patient centered manner to assure patient satisfaction has been provided during their visit. 12. Will notify Practice Manager immediately when problems or incidents occur in the health center. Performance Improvement: Participates in the Organization’s performance improvement activities and performs duties in accordance with applicable standards. Safety/Infection Control Activities: Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of health care by keeping work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion. Reporting Relationships: The Translator reports to and is supervised by the Practice Manager. Evaluation: The evaluation of work performance will be on-going, and will be carried out by the Practice Manager, and will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitudes and general working behavior. Formal evaluation will normally be performed annually, but may be initiated at other times by the Practice Manager. Qualifications: 1. Graduated from an accredited high school or hold a GED. 2. Must work as a care team member to promote quality care and excellence at every patient visit. 3. Sufficient experience to carry out the duties of this position. 4. Ability to relate with warmth and effectiveness to the patients and to the providers of the health center. 5. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Status: This is FLSA non exempt. This is an ADA negotiable position.

Requirements
