About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is seeking physician scientist applications for an academic radiation oncologist with a focus on translational research. The radiation oncologist will be expected to utilize all relevant radiation modalities for their disease site including 3DCRT, IMRT, SBRT, and proton beam therapy, while working with one of the premier multi-disciplinary teams in the nation. Candidates should have exceptional clinical competency and a strong interest in translational research. Both current practicing radiation oncologists and graduating residents are encouraged to apply. The Mayo Clinic Department of Radiation Oncology in Rochester, Minnesota is a leading center for innovation and excellence in patient care. The department has a fully accredited residency program with 12 medical residents and the position includes participation in education efforts for residents and medical students. A wide diversity of treatment modalities are available, including six LINACs, a four gantry proton center, brachytherapy, SBRT, intraoperative radiotherapy, Gamma Knife, clinical trials, and translational research. Over 4,000 patients are treated yearly within the department. There is also a robust clinical trials infrastructure within the department to support investigator initiated clinical trials, and radiation oncologists collaborate closely with scientists throughout the institution. Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota was ranked the No. 1 hospital overall by Newsweek and the U.S. News & World Report, and ranked No. 4 in the nation in cancer. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCCC) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center – the only one with three geographic sites – in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ; Jacksonville, FL; and Rochester, MN.
