Full time requirement (40 hours per week) Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Translational ADME intern for the Translational Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Investigational Toxicology (TPPIT) department, located in San Diego, CA. The TPPIT department is a critical part of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety organization in Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and is committed to the delivery of high-quality clinical candidates in all Therapeutic Area discovery teams. We are currently seeking a highly motivated student to join our Translational ADME group as an intern for the summer of 2026. The goal of this internship is to provide the opportunity for an individual to gain hands-on research experience and learn about drug metabolism in the pharmaceutical industry. The duration of the internship is 10-12 weeks, and the start and end dates are flexible.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or other life science related field at an accredited University or College throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Previous hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in utilization of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding and/or experience with enzyme kinetics and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience handling cells and/or sub-cellular fractions.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and executing in vitro assays with small molecules utilizing hepatocytes, sub-cellular fractions, or recombinant enzymes
  • Reviewing scientific literature and summarizing key findings to inform assay strategy
  • Analytical LC-MS/MS method development, bioanalysis, and troubleshooting
  • Performing data analysis and presenting key scientific findings
  • Maintaining an accurate lab notebook
