About The Position

Equitas Academy Charter Schools is dedicated to preparing students for college, careers, and life pursuits while inspiring them to be champions of equity. We currently serve over 2,000 students and operate six schools in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Los Angeles. As an Equitas Teacher, you will lead rigorous instruction across various subjects, maintain high academic and behavioral expectations, and actively engage with families and the school community.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree required.
  • A current Multiple Subject teaching credential (internship, preliminary, or clear) OR out of state equivalent required OR PK-3 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Specialist Instruction Credentials OR willingness to apply for an Emergency Specialist Teaching Permit in Early Childhood Education.
  • Child Development Permit OR 24 credits in Early Childhood Education OR 3 years full-time experience working with PK or TK students.
  • English Learner authorization.
  • A strong belief that all students can succeed.
  • Demonstrated experience and success working with students in low-income communities (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead rigorous instruction in all contents including math, reading, phonics, writing, science, social studies, and morning meeting.
  • Deliver instructional materials prepared based on the rigorous and aligned curriculum.
  • Communicate and collaborate with families regarding the behavior and academic progress of their students.
  • Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students.
  • Demonstrate a warm demander style with scholars in the classroom and school community.
  • Approach class community building and repair with culturally responsive and restorative practices.
  • Start the day by 7:15am with a school team huddle and end at 3:00pm after scholar dismissal.
  • Participate in daily prep time and a duty-free lunch period.
  • Attend weekly collaborative grade level team meetings.
  • Engage in regular one-on-one meetings and feedback sessions with your coach or supervisor.
  • Supervise and facilitate portions of Community Meeting weekly on Friday.
  • Attend IEP, SST, and 504 meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate actively in weekly professional development aimed at refining school culture and academics.
  • Perform other duties to support students and the school community.
