Transition Support Associate (Evening)

About The Position

The Transition Support Associate supervises students in the hallways, cafeteria, bathrooms, and common areas. The Hall/Student Monitor will report to the Chief of Staff and will work with the Dean of Students to promote a safe and healthy school environment, maintains the appropriate environment by enforcing hall rules and guidelines, exhibits willingness and ability to work with all school employee groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years' experience working with youth from low-income background, first generation college students, and/or students of color
  • 2-3 years' experience with student support/monitoring
  • 1-2 years' experience with SEL/Mindfulness practices
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Relationship builder
  • Ability to multitask various projects and responsibilities
  • Data research, implementation and management
  • A deep passion for extracurricular and enrichment programming and the value of these programs for student development
  • Clear, effective, and efficient communicator with a variety of stakeholders (students, families, staff, funders, etc.) in a variety of ways (verbally, in writing, etc.)
  • Flexible
  • Independent worker; self-motivated

Responsibilities

  • Supervises students in common areas
  • Enforces hall rules and schoolwide guidelines
  • Coordinates with the Chief of Staff on the process of communicating with parents/guardians
  • Conducts home visits
  • Facilitates communication and coordination between school, families and external agencies
  • Monitors student performance and provides support to increase academic achievement
  • Supports in classrooms as needed
  • Provides daily updates on interactions/activity with students
  • Checks in students and provides passes
  • Assists with Student Check Out
  • Assists with detention as requested by the Chief of Staff
  • Functions as the primary student monitor during open times (ie – before school, class transitions, lunch, afterschool, hallways)
  • Takes the necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner in all aspects of their relationship with the students.
  • Promotes a safe and healthy school environment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates interest in students and education.
  • Experience working with large numbers of students.
  • Experience working with a diverse population within education or related fields.
