At Wayfinder Family Services, we understand the unique challenges facing some of our state’s most vulnerable children, youth and adults. Those with disabilities, those without a home of their own, those who have been abused and many, many more. We answer the call for them. Program and Role Summary Wayfinder’s Transition Services program works with teenagers and young adults ages 16 to 25 from across California who are blind or visually impaired explore careers and successfully transition to independent living, college, or the workforce. Participants learn assistive technology, independent living, and orientation and mobility (white cane and safe travel) skills. They participate in college-access activities, develop leadership skills, learn job-seeking skills and increase their independence. The program offers weekend workshops and a four-week, in-person summer program in classrooms and dorms on the Cal State Los Angeles campus. The primary focus on the Transition Services Coordinator, is responsible for lesson plan development, outreach, and supervision of staff, including seasonal and on-call staff for Transition Services programming at the regional level. This is a part-time position budgeted for 20 hours/week, with a varied schedule.
