About The Position

We are seeking professional Unarmed Transit Security Officers to provide public safety, fare inspection, and customer service across the transit system. This role combines security guard responsibilities with customer engagement, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for riders while enforcing transit regulations. Successful candidates will have strong de-escalation skills, situational awareness, and public interaction experience. Officers patrol transit areas on foot or by vehicle, monitor for safety concerns, perform fare inspections, and respond to incidents. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in security, military service, law enforcement, or public-facing customer service roles. Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older
  • U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid Arizona Unarmed Security Guard License
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License or State ID
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Willing to Obtain First Aid and CPR Certification
  • 3 years of customer-facing service and security/military/correctional officer/P.D.
  • Must be fully capable of performing the full range of security work requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion under either normal or emergency conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of shift hours.
  • Must possess a good distance vision in each eye, correct to 20/30 on the Snellen chart. In addition to that, must possess normal fields of vision, good depth perception, close vision correctable to Jaeger #4 type test of both eyes, and ability to distinguish basic colors
  • Hearing loss must not exceed 30 decibels in both ears or 35 decibels in the poorer ear.
  • Ability to pass background screening in accordance with EEOC Enforcement Guidance 915.002
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide unarmed security services through foot patrols and vehicle patrols across the transit system.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a strong security presence.
  • Conduct daily fare inspections.
  • Identify, document, and report security violations, safety hazards, and suspicious activity.
  • Monitor transit areas to prevent public disturbances and safety incidents.
  • Assist during emergencies and special events, including: Crowd control Service disruptions Collisions Fire or life-safety incidents
  • Enforce agency policies regarding trespassing on transit property, coordinating with local law enforcement when necessary.
  • Notify law enforcement of criminal activity and provide detailed incident reports.
  • Take prompt action when observing accidents, fire hazards, property damage, or safety risks.
