Are you excited about this Transit Planner job? The City of Johnson City is seeking a Full-Time Transit Planner to undertake complex professional work within our Transit System. This pivotal role involves coordinating transit planning with broader community initiatives and engaging with Federal (FTA) and State (TDOT) agencies to ensure compliance with civil rights requirements. The Transit Planner will analyze current and future transit routes, conduct budgetary analyses, and prepare essential documents for grant applications and federal reporting. Supervision of technical and clerical staff will be involved, along with significant collaboration with various city departments and local interest groups. The position demands a proactive approach to maintaining ongoing compliance with federal mandates, preparing for audits, and enhancing the region’s transit strategies. Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of detailed financial reporting
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and basics of financial project administration
  • General knowledge of computer applications for various FTA and TDOT reporting requirements and preparation of written reports
  • Ability to plan and coordinate necessary tasks
  • Ability to interpret inter-governmental directives and regulations
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to exercise good oral and written skills
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates subordinates government officials and general public
  • Ability to maintain professional manner and appearance
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at work station or desk
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding tasks
  • Graduation from an accredited college/university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration Planning or relevant field
  • Pre-employment physical, and background check required.
