About The Position

WSP is initiating a search for a Transit Planner to support their South Florida Transportation Team. This position can sit out of their Miami or Sunrise, FL offices. WSP USA is looking for a transit-focused planning professional based in South Florida who has strong technical skills in data-driven analysis, multimodal network planning, and transportation systems. This person will play a key role in supporting transit-centric projects, incorporating regulatory requirements, and delivering high-quality, forward-thinking transit solutions to enhance Miami-Dade, Broward County and Palm Beach County's transit network and initiatives. Candidates will be working on tasks for transit projects and studies including data collection, research, and documentation contributing to the development of statewide, regional, and corridor plans, transit plans and studies, multi-modal feasibility studies, rail studies, BRT studies, and other analyses. Candidates should have strong written and presentation communication skills and experience with public meetings. The successful candidate must be a team player and demonstrate strong research, analytical, communication, collaboration, and technical skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with discipline-specific software (e.g., ArcGIS, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Strong team collaboration and critical thinking skills
  • Strong data analysis, technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively express ideas to a technical and non-technical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Transit Planning for BRT projects
  • Knowledge of Equity planning for transit corridor projects
  • Knowledge of Title VI analysis
  • Familiarity with FTA CIG process
  • Knowledge of Best practices in multimodal transportation planning analyses
  • Experience with Florida Department of Transportation PD&E process
  • Knowledge of Federal and state regulations and funding programs related to transit projects
  • Knowledge of Emerging trends in the transit planning space
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Master’s Degree
  • Transit-specific work experience
