About The Position

The Transit Planner I and II positions are responsible for various planning activities, including administrative functions, project management, and compliance with land development codes. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Regional Planning, Political Science, Geosciences, Geography, Public Administration, Landscape Architecture, or related field for Planner I; Master's Degree preferred for Planner II.
  • One year of experience in planning, zoning, or related field for Planner I; two years for Planner II.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative functions associated with planning activities, such as maintaining records and program information.
  • Draft and review correspondence and provide public information related to planning services.
  • Assist in conducting plan reviews, including intakes, reviews, and recommendations for zoning petitions and modifications.
  • Participate in defined segments of planning projects, conducting research and preparing specifications and plans.
  • Collect, tabulate, and store planning data, maintaining and updating operational data and generating summary reports.
  • Manage planning review and compliance for land disturbance permit plans and respond to customer inquiries about environmental regulations.
  • Facilitate long-range and current planning actions related to compliance with land development codes and comprehensive plan goals.
  • Evaluate and analyze proposals and related data to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Perform statistical research and comparative analyses to forecast planning deficiencies and trends.
  • Participate in preparation and administration of grants and special studies, gathering data and preparing documentation for public hearings.
