Transit Management Analyst Trainee
About The Position
As a Transit Management Analyst trainee, you will play a key role in supporting critical processes that ensure compliance, data integrity, and operational efficiency within the Maintenance Support unit. Your responsibilities will involve assisting with technical evaluations, catalog development, and interdepartmental collaboration, while gaining hands-on experience through rotational assignments and field-based activities. These tasks are designed to provide exposure to engineering standards, procurement systems, and maintenance planning, contributing to both your professional development and the organization's continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities
- Assist with Compliance & Standards Evaluation: Review vendor submitted materials such as parts catalogs and technical documentation for compliance with NYCT specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Support with Commodity Data Management: Maintain and validate commodity classifications and metadata in the NYCT Commodity Management System (CMS) database to ensure data integrity, consistency, and alignment with procurement and inventory systems.
- Assist with Technical Data Interpretation: Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and parts catalogs to extract and verify dimensional material, and manufacturing specifications for use in procurement and maintenance planning.
- Support with Parts Evaluation Coordination: Support the Preliminary Product Evaluation Criteria (PPEC) and QPL process by issuing submittals, tracking submissions, monitoring approval workflows, and coordinating First Article Inspections (FAI) or Engineering Tests (ETC) as needed.
- Assist with Catalog Development & Maintenance: Assist in the preparation and updating of part catalog records, including detailed material descriptions, manufacturer data, and application mapping across car classes and systems.
- Support with Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Procurement, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance teams to resolve material discrepancies, streamline workflows, and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Assist with Documentation Management: Maintain structured records of evaluations, investigations, and correspondence to ensure traceability and support internal audits and compliance reporting.
- Support with Maintenance Systems Support: Contribute to the development and maintenance of Scheduled Maintenance System (SMS) component plans, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and overhaul documentation through data analysis of components failures and wear patterns.
- Assist with Rotational Project Assignments: Participate in rotational assignments across Maintenance Support units to support strategic initiatives, gain exposure to technical disciplines, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support with Field-Based Data Collection: Conduct field visits, inspections, and teardown observations to collect data, verify part configurations, and support material evaluation and process improvement.
