The Transfer Credit Specialist partners with the Transfer Manager to support the transfer credit evaluation process. This role involves assisting in the evaluation of transfer coursework and the maintenance of the course articulation database, ensuring compliance with institutional and state guidelines. The specialist specifically supports first-time students with prior college coursework and collaborates with various campus stakeholders to advocate for transfer student success at CMU. Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to calculate sums and percentages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working with campus departments, students, and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Decisive, consistent, and accountable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to deal diplomatically and professionally with people.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education (or related professional environment) with excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, Slate, and Softdocs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate transcripts from other institutions for first-time students to determine transferability of courses and accurately enter the data on the student record.
  • Provide students with a timely transfer credit evaluation within 30 days.
  • Provide course equivalency assistance and preliminary transfer course evaluations for prospective students.
  • Perform data entry of alternative credit such as College Level Exam Program (CLEP), Advance Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB).
  • Use transfer-related software effectively, assist with the maintenance of the course articulation database, and communicate proactively with colleagues and students.
  • Maintain knowledge of articulation agreements, institutional policies, and state of Colorado guidelines including the Guaranteed Transfer (GT) Pathways General Education Curriculum.
  • Work with campus departments such as Admissions, IRIS, and faculty and staff within academic units to meet the needs of transfer students.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all functions of the Registrar’s Office and support front counter duties when needed.
  • Participate in campus events such as semester start up and commencement.
  • Understand eligible students’ rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and protects the privacy of student records.
