The Trait Integration Associate provides technical and operational support for the integration of GMO traits into elite germplasm. This role involves hands-on work with breeding materials, data collection, and coordination with research teams to ensure accurate and efficient trait introgression processes.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of plant breeding, genetics, or agronomy.
  • Experience working in greenhouse, field, or lab settings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Familiarity with data entry tools (e.g., Excel, breeding databases).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work in varied environments (field, lab, greenhouse).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in agricultural field required, Master’s degree a plus.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in crop development, breeding, or agricultural research
  • Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 30 Lbs.
  • Ability to travel 25%, including occasional weekends and some international travel.
  • Expect extended hours and varying weather conditions during peak planting and harvest seasons.
  • Must be able to work safely in outdoor environments and around agricultural equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in agricultural research or trait integration programs.
  • Exposure to molecular tools or genotyping platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing trait introgression workflows, including crossing, backcrossing, and selection activities.
  • Support genotyping and phenotyping efforts to confirm trait presence and performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of breeding activities, pedigrees, and trait data.
  • Prepare and organize seed stock for planting, sampling, and shipment.
  • Monitor plant growth and trait expression in greenhouse and field environments.
  • Help ensure compliance with trait stewardship and biosafety protocols.
  • Collaborate with scientists and technicians to support trait advancement decisions.
  • Participate in data entry, quality control, and reporting tasks.
  • Adhere to and promote company safety standards and protocols at all times.
  • Contribute to maintaining and improving research quality standards and data integrity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
