Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI) and Herzog Transit Services, Inc. (HTSI), collectively the ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors are seeking applicants for the Hudson Bergen Light Rail operation located in Hudson County, New Jersey. ACI was founded in 1989 with their corporate office located in Boston, MA and Herzog founded in 1969 with corporate offices located in St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX. Combined our companies provide FRA/FTA compliant transportation, equipment maintenance, dispatching, right-of-way maintenance, facility maintenance and dispatching services for 20 distinct client properties. In addition to the Joint Venture being the upcoming operator/maintainer of the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, we currently jointly operate the Tren Urbano heavy rail service in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the CTDOT’s Hartford intercity service in Connecticut. ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors are currently seeking a Training Specialist to join our team. The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually.

  • Develop, execute, and administer comprehensive training for HBLR personnel, First Responders, and contractors.
  • Draft curricula, syllabi, and training modules for management reviews prior to implementation.
  • Assist with essential training programs requiring instructional design.
  • Ensure rule changes and SOP updates are subject to document controls and signatory review.
  • Maintain proficiency in training, qualifying, and re-training HBLR employees.
  • Incorporate National Incident Management (NIMS) principles in training programs.
  • Support the Substance Abuse Policy including education and training.
  • Develop and maintain records for the HBLR's Recertification Program.
  • Monitor and review job performance of HBLR personnel for training needs.
  • Conduct Rules Compliance/Efficiency Testing Audits.
  • Assist in accident and incident investigations.
  • Respond to service failures and provide on-site incident command.
  • Participate in Safety meetings and remain current with System Safety Program Plans.
  • Oversee the annual update of the Rulebook.
  • Support the Safety and Training Manager in maintaining the site training matrix.
  • Work various shifts and locations as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of experience in the rail transit industry.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol screening.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English in a work setting.
  • Proficiency in software programs such as PowerPoint, Word, Photoshop, Excel, and Storyline.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Formal safety-related coursework.
  • TSI Certified Safety Professional.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Certification in CPR/AED.
