Lead training efforts to support T&D Operations employees in acquiring the knowledge, certification, and skills required so they can perform their jobs safely and efficiently, b) Monitor the training process, trainees, and programs, c) Coordinate outside training programs and assist other business unit trainers as needs arise, d) Provide switchman training for outside wholesale partners to be compliant with NPPD switchman training program. Schedule, delivery, and assessment of technical training programs to all Distribution/Transmission Lines and Substations teams. Maintain or co-maintain Progression Program in the respective area.

Requirements

  • Training Specialist I Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience as described below (or) Associates degree in electrical/electronic technology or Utility line and three (3) years of experience as described below (OR) High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of experience as described below.
  • Experience in respective operations of transmission substation and/or distribution systems is required.
  • Demonstrated good safety record.
  • Training Specialist II Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience as described below (or) Associates degree in electrical/electronic technology or Utility line and five (5) years of experience as described below in below (OR) High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years of experience as described below.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency at developing new training using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or the ADDIE process.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Training Specialist I.
  • Must have a Line Technician status
  • Must become a certified Switchman within six (6) months of accepting the position and maintain the certification.
  • Must become a certified Clearance Holder within six (6) months of accepting the position and maintain the certification.
  • Must be within 12 months of obtaining Journeyman status
  • Training Supervisor - Lines/Substations will work with local crews to ensure the Training Specialist I can gain the knowledge and field experience needed to receive Journeyman status.
  • Training Supervisor - Lines/Substations will be responsible to organize Journeyman review. The Training Specialist I will need to pass the substation or line technician already established Journeyman Review Progression Standard.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and resolution of technical training and utilization of procedures to maintain current training programs.

  • Evaluate trainee performance and share results with appropriate supervision.
  • Evaluate training programs, with input from employees and Supervision, and modify as required to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Perform periodic evaluations of training programs in order to ensure that curriculum is current and correct.
  • Work closely with T&D Operations Supervision and other Business Units to develop and maintain training/progression/certification programs for craft positions and other non-operations personnel.
  • Maintain accurate training records and provide schedules of business events.
  • Leverage the knowledge and skills of our employees to enhance the overall training and safety programs and use these employees as subject matter experts to assist in the development and delivery of the curriculum.
  • Maintain or co-maintain responsibility for the Progression Programs in respective area.
  • Research, develop, and update associated technical training material.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and interpret data.
  • Prepare and administer effective means for evaluation of training programs.
  • The incumbent will be responsible to deliver North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standard training.
  • Co- Manage the Switch person and Clearance Training Program to include developing/maintaining a course outline, lesson plan, and delivery.
  • Communicate with NPPD supervision as well as outside NPPD wholesale partners supervision.
  • Accountable for other duties as assigned.
