About The Position

The Training Specialist 1 position within the New York State Department of State focuses on developing and coordinating training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees. Requirements

  • A bachelor's or higher degree for Trainee 1
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience developing and presenting training programs for Trainee 2
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience developing and presenting training programs for Training Specialist 1
  • A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online training platforms
  • Knowledge of employee engagement strategies
  • Familiarity with the New York State civil service system

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Statewide Learning Management System (SLMS)
  • Develop and coordinate internal DOS training resources (both online and classroom)
  • Secure and coordinate external training resources (both online and classroom)
  • Secure training classes and coordinate payment information with Fiscal Management as needed
  • Present live classroom and Web-Ex training
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to agency staff and managers
  • Utilize technology and technology related training programs to develop and maintain technology expertise to support agency training needs
  • Represent DOS HR with internal and external groups regarding training activities
  • Utilize training skills and resources to support and assist the agency's employee engagement program
  • Utilize training skills to support and assist the agency's onboarding program
