About The Position

AGS is looking for a Training Officer to work in Fort Bliss, TX. The Training Officer (TO) will be dedicated to the provision of all aspects of contractor-provided training. This position develops and delivers training programs for detention staff, ensuring they are equipped to handle the challenges of working in a detention facility. This includes designing curriculum, conducting training sessions, assessing comprehension, and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. The TO shall be a certified instructor. State or national level recognized institution certification of instructors is mandatory. Certification of the Training Officer may be established by documentation of experience in teaching positions or by successful completion of a course of training for qualifying personnel as instructors. The Training Officer shall possess in-depth knowledge of the ICE National Detention Standards (NDS) through experience working in an ICE detention facility. In-depth knowledge of the American Correctional Association standards is acceptable in lieu of NDS knowledge. The Training Officer shall be a certified firearms instructor and a Red Cross certified CPR/AED First Aid instructor.

Requirements

  • The Training Officer shall hold an accredited bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, or have three to five years of related industry experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related administrative experience managing a moderate to large training program.
  • Management experience in a secure detention environment is required.
  • Possess state or national level recognized institution certification of instructors is mandatory.
  • Ability to prepare management, business, technical, and personnel reports, reviews and documents for internal and external use.
  • Above average verbal and written communication.
  • Able to make presentations to employees at all levels of the facility.
  • Knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements for managing a secure detention facility.
  • Knowledge and a working understanding of ICE NDS.
  • Appropriate level security clearance issued by Department of Homeland Security Personnel Security Division.
  • Must have a social security card issued and approved by the Social Security Administration and shall be a United States citizen.
  • Must not be currently employed by any federal agency, including active-duty military.
  • Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be capable of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations in English.
  • Must maintain current First Aid and CPR instructor certifications.
  • Firearms instructor certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining current instructor certifications.
  • Maintaining and updating all training records.
  • Ensuring employee training meets NDS standards.
  • Establishing and maintaining current documentation regarding all training in both administrative and employee files.
  • Develop and test employee proficiency through written, practical, or oral reviews.
  • Confirm employee proficiency testing results through such methods as on-the-job training and inspections.
  • Conduct the Firearms Training Program that is compliant with the contract and State laws and regulations.
  • Conducts baton training.
  • Arranges firing ranges for training.
  • Ensure all required weapons testing proficiency is maintained by all AGS staff required to carry a weapons system.
  • Conduct Disturbance Control Team training program in compliance with ICE policy, regulations, and instructions.
  • Ensure all DCT staff remains certified and physically fit to perform DCT assigned duties.
  • Ensures continual self-assessment and corrective action where needed to maintain an effective training program.
  • Maintain the offsite training facility, ensure storage remains organized and inventory of items stored is accurate.
  • Maintain current records for all TX guard licenses.
  • Maintains all training equipment and ensures it is available and in working order.
  • Maintain all training records for AIP and all other CBDF staff that is trained.
