About The Position

The Training Officer C&S is responsible for delivering training to new hires and incumbent employees, selecting and supervising new hire trainees, and managing the overall delivery of training programs. This includes coordination with client departments, managing resource needs, trainee schedules, record-keeping, and other administrative responsibilities. The role also involves supporting and conducting training program development work, performing peer review activities, and delivering various training courses related to Communications and Signals employees, including aspects of the Signal system, electronics, computer skills, mechanical and electrical measurements, Positive Train Control (PTC), and Operating Rules.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience in C&S.
  • Qualified on Roadway Worker Safety or prior qualification with ability to rapidly requalify.
  • Familiar with relevant OSHA Safety and Health Regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing and delivering training.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant post-secondary technical education or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, schedule, and deliver training programs including new hire, regulatory, refresher, and induction training.
  • Perform ongoing evaluation of new hire student performance and implement disciplinary actions as required.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive onboarding process for new Training Officers.
  • Mentor and team-teach with new Training Officers to facilitate their development.
  • Establish and maintain a peer review program among Training Officers.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the development and evaluation of training programs.
  • Keep accurate and timely training records and perform other administrative duties as required.
  • Provide expertise on technical operations and work practices to client departments.
