There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.

The Training Instructor position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is a critical role located at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI). In this position, you will be responsible for training and evaluating canine handlers and their detection canines as part of the National Explosives Detection Canine Team Programs. Approximately 80% of your time will be dedicated to the training of canine handlers and canines, while the remaining time will involve conducting assessments and evaluations of the performance of handlers and canine teams in detecting explosives. This role requires a high level of expertise in canine training programs, principles, and practices to ensure that course content and delivery align with training objectives and organizational goals. Your duties will include training, distributing, and evaluating TSA explosives detection canines, working independently to instruct canine handlers in the detection of explosives, and managing the inventory of hazardous materials used in training. You will also be responsible for evaluating canine handler teams for the National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program (NEDCTP) and conducting evaluations of handlers and canines from participating local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Establishing procedures and policies for training assignments, presenting material according to approved lesson plans, and identifying processes for training and evaluating explosives detection canines will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will lead the development of technical training presentations and evaluation methodologies, review training practices, and develop best practices for incorporation into the curriculum. The work environment is high-risk, involving regular exposure to weather extremes and potentially dangerous situations with aggressive dogs. You must be physically capable of working outdoors under adverse conditions, which may include lifting canines weighing up to 80 lbs. and enduring unpleasant odors and loud barking noises. This position requires U.S. citizenship, a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
