About The Position

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50. The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community. ACS’ Division of Policy, Planning and Measurement (PPM) collaborates with every ACS division to bring knowledge to practice. PPM guides systems analysis and strategic systems improvement; assures quality of practice at ACS and its provider agencies; professionalizes the front-line workforce; brings knowledge into practice; provides research and analytic support; and plans and develops new programs and policies. Within PPM, the Office of Training & Workforce Development provides direct service staff and supervisors across the child welfare and juvenile justice sectors with training and ongoing professional development opportunities to support them in promoting child safety and well-being. Through the use of simulation, coaching and other best practices in adult learning, staff develop strengths-based skills to protect and support the children, youth and families of New York City. PPM's James Satterwhite Academy provides intensive on-boarding programs for Child Protective Specialists, Youth Development Specialists, Supervisors and others, as well as specialized courses for ACS and provider agency staff. PPM is seeking 1 highly motivated and detail-oriented Training & Data Support Intern to join our team. As a Training & Data Support Intern, you will support day-to-day operations of the James Satterwhite Academy (JSA) to provide on-boarding programs for direct service staff, and specialized courses for ACS and provider staff. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who is interested in supporting training operations and data management for child welfare, juvenile justice, and congregate care professionals.

Requirements

  • As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
  • NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team with building and maintaining a Legal Request Database, and producing learner transcripts in response to legal/agency requests
  • Work closely with the training department liaisons, and ACS personnel to coordinate training for newly hired staff
  • Assist Registration Operations with coordinating, monitoring, and tracking registration and attendance for all staff on-boarding and in-service training activities
  • Collaborate with ACS field offices, other ACS programs and contracted agencies to address training session registration and attendance issues
  • Track and update learner training completion data in information tracking systems, and assist with generating weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
  • Support production of mandatory compliance data reports, perform data quality checks, and maintain confidentiality of training records
  • Contribute as a member of a team responsible for facilitating and promoting consistent attendance for all regularly offered training opportunities at ACS
  • Provide administrative support with conference room reservations, and training calendars (via Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Booking App, etc.)
  • Support development of digital display content utilizing Canva, and other applications
  • Assist with coordinating to obtain technology equipment, including computers, monitors, cameras, etc.
