About The Position

The Training and Development Supervisor supports the execution and continuous improvement of Wilsonart’s training and workforce development initiatives at the plant level. Reporting to the Training and Development Manager, this role is responsible for supervising department level trainers, and ensuring the consistent delivery of onboarding programs, skill qualification and certification pathways. This position works closely with Operations, HR, EHS, and site leadership to ensure training programs are practical, standardized, and aligned with safety, quality, and performance expectations. The Supervisor plays a key role in translating training strategy into daily execution and ensuring workforce readiness across sites. A successful candidate will bring expertise in instructional design, program management, and leadership to assess learning needs, develop engaging content, and deliver measurable results. A successful candidate will also be organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance hands-on involvement with team leadership responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and training facilitation techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility with front-line employees and site leadership.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong instructional design skills with demonstrated ability to develop effective training materials (instructor guides, participants guides, job aids, skills maps, etc.)
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (Articulate 360 preferred)
  • Proficiency with multimedia and content creation tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.)
  • Experience with, or desire to learn, Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms for content creation (ElevenLabs, Articulate 360 AI, Leonardo AI, Canva AI, etc.)
  • Strong ILT and VILT facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supporting standard work documentation and role-based training pathways.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to analyze training data and identify trends.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations and safety requirements preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with shifting priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Business, Industrial/Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, training, learning, workforce development, or operational leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or operational environment strongly preferred.
  • Certificate(s) in Instructional Design, Articulate 360, Advanced Facilitation Skills and/or Evaluating Learning Impact a plus

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support department level trainers to ensure consistent and high-quality training delivery across assigned sites or functions.
  • Develop and facilitate structured onboarding programs for new hires and employees transitioning into new roles.
  • Design and develop training programs that meet learning objectives and industry standards.
  • Create interactive e-learning modules, incorporating multimedia elements including video and animations.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and rollout of standardized training materials, skill certification pathways, and job-specific training plans.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to help document and maintain standard work instructions for operational roles.
  • Monitor training completion, certification progress, and compliance metrics using the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure training documentation remains current, version-controlled, and accessible.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions as needed, including technical, operational, and leadership development content.
  • Assist in measuring training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance data; recommend improvements where needed.
  • Support implementation of new training initiatives related to process improvements, automation, and technology upgrades.
  • Collaborate with HR and EHS to coordinate required compliance and safety training programs.
  • Conduct job/task, gap and needs analyses to identify skill gaps and workforce development opportunities and escalate recommendations to the Training and Development Manager.
  • Support vendor coordination and logistics for external training programs when applicable.
