About The Position

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive training programs that enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance across the bank. This role partners with department leaders and subject matter experts to identify training needs, develop tailored learning solutions, and support employee growth aligned with the bank’s strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in training, instructional design, or organizational development, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and e-learning tools.
  • Experience designing and facilitating training for both frontline and back-office banking functions.
  • Ability to analyze training needs and measure program effectiveness.
  • Ability to interpret and apply banking regulations and internal policies to create compliant training programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong instructional design and facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning technology platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient knowledge of banking regulations and compliance training requirements.
  • Ability to work additional or non-standard hours as needed to meet deadlines or respond to other situations requiring extended availability.

Responsibilities

  • Assess training needs through collaboration with management, performance data analysis, and employee feedback.
  • Design and develop engaging training materials, including instructor-led sessions, e-learning modules, workshops, and job aids.
  • Facilitate training sessions for various employee groups, including new hires, frontline staff, and leadership.
  • Utilize adult learning principles and innovative instructional techniques to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Manage the bank’s Learning Management System, ensuring accurate course enrollment, completion tracking, and reporting.
  • Coordinate logistics for training events, including scheduling, materials preparation, and technology setup.
  • Monitor training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and performance metrics; recommend improvements based on results.
  • Manage and assign compliance training courses to ensure all employees understand and adhere to relevant banking regulations and policies (e.g., AML, BSA, Fair Lending).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting training content and delivery.
  • Assist in preparing training documentation and evidence for regulatory audits.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning through coaching, mentoring, and communication of development opportunities.
  • Partner with managers to create individualized development plans and recommend training resources.
  • Work closely with department leaders, HR, and subject matter experts to align training with business objectives.
  • Communicate training schedules, updates, and resources effectively to team members and leadership.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging learning technologies to continuously enhance the training function.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970 that are applicable to one’s position at the bank.
  • Possess and maintain a current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage. Both are required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Possess and maintain adequate skills in computer operation, including email, word processing, spreadsheet, and specialty software programs.
  • Possess and maintain adequate typing skills to meet the needs of the position.
  • Possess and maintain adequate math skills to meet the needs of the position. This may include the ability to count currency and coin, calculate interest, balance accounts, add, subtract, multiply, and locate routine mathematical errors.
  • Practice effective and efficient organizational and time management skills.
  • Be able to work with general supervision while performing duties.
  • Use effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This includes the ability to apply common sense when carrying out instructions, interpreting documents, understanding procedures, writing reports and correspondence, and speaking clearly to customers and employees.
  • Be able to deal with routine problems involving multiple facets and variables in standardized situations.
