We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Trainer (Safety/Compliance) to join our team at GEM Plumbing & Heating, a leading provider of Plumbing, Heating, Electrical and HVAC solutions. This position will be responsible for developing and delivering safety training programs for our employees to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role is crucial for reducing accidents, improving safety awareness, and ensuring that all employees are well-versed in the safety protocols specific to the trades industry. This position will report to the Lincoln, RI location with travel within RI, MA, and CT worksite locations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Deliver Safety Training Programs: Design, implement, and facilitate engaging and effective safety training sessions for field and office staff on topics such as OSHA standards, HVAC-specific safety protocols, equipment handling, electrical safety, fall protection, and emergency response.
  • Ensure Compliance: Monitor industry safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure all training programs meet OSHA, local, and federal safety guidelines.
  • Onboarding and Continuous Training: Conduct safety training during new employee orientation and provide ongoing safety education and training for all staff members. Ensure that safety certifications and licenses are up to date.
  • Safety Audits and Inspections: Assist in conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments at job sites and facilities. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to improve safety practices.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all safety training programs, employee attendance, certifications, and compliance. Provide regular reports to management on training progress, incidents, and recommendations.
  • Safety Awareness Promotion: Foster a culture of safety by promoting and encouraging safe work practices and behavior. Provide safety tips, updates, and information to all employees on a regular basis.
  • Emergency Preparedness Training: Lead emergency preparedness drills, such as fire safety, first aid, CPR, and evacuation procedures. Ensure that all employees are trained to handle emergencies appropriately.
  • Collaboration with Management and Field Supervisors: Work closely with field supervisors and safety managers to address site-specific safety concerns and tailor training programs to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate's degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred).
  • OSHA 30-hour or 10-hour Construction Certification (required).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation (preferred).
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Training, specifically towards safety.
  • Experience with HVAC, Construction, or related trades industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and associated safety risks.
  • Proven experience in delivering both in-person and online safety training.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and educate a diverse workforce.
  • Knowledge of Service Titan software is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risks in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety regulations, particularly those relevant to HVAC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation.
  • Knowledge of Service Titan software.
