About The Position

The position involves providing clinical athletic training services in local orthopedic clinics, adhering to the National Athletic Trainers Association Code of Ethics, BOC Standards of Professional Practice, and applicable state regulations. The role requires rooming patients, obtaining medical histories, performing injury evaluations, ordering imaging exams, preparing injections, and supporting physicians with procedures and wound care. Additional responsibilities include applying and removing casts, fitting patients with durable medical equipment, providing therapeutic exercise program instruction, and handling administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and completing insurance forms. The position also involves maintaining patient confidentiality and participating in professional development related to sports medicine.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a CAATE program.
  • Current athletic training certification by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
  • Currently licensed or eligible for a State License in Athletic Training within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS) training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical athletic training services in local orthopedic clinics.
  • Room patients and obtain pertinent medical history from patient/guardian.
  • Perform clinical injury evaluation and assessment of patient's level of function.
  • Order x-rays and/or imaging exams for patients as directed by providers.
  • Prepare injections as directed by provider.
  • Support the physician with procedures and wound care.
  • Apply custom splint and/or fiberglass casts and remove casts.
  • Fit and instruct patients on the use of braces, boots, crutches, splints, and other durable medical equipment.
  • Support the physician with concussion testing and maintain necessary training.
  • Provide therapeutic home exercise program instruction.
  • Handle administrative duties including answering patient calls and preparing charts.
  • Document/chart clinic notes in EPIC (EMR) with minimal mistakes.
  • Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) in matters relating to patient records.
  • Assist in patient education for chronic and acute diseases.
  • Participate in patient data collection for research studies.
  • Clean and stock exam rooms with required supplies.
  • Adhere to departmental dress code when providing on-site Athletic Training services.
  • Participate in professional growth and development related to sports medicine.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, implementing, and compliance of departmental policies.
