About The Position

The trainer is responsible for conducting trainings for new staff, providing trainings as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and in coordination with the Case Management Supervisor. The trainer coordinates professional development opportunities for all staff in the Home Study & Post Release Services (HS/PRS) program. The position will be responsible for the development of training materials for both live and online self-paced trainings as well as facilitate virtual live trainings and in-person. This position reports to the Assistant Program Director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work or an equivalent degree in behavioral sciences or a social services field.
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in the fields listed above.
  • At least three years' experience in staff training, including training both small and large groups of staff virtually and/or in-person.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically proficiency with Teams, Word, Power Point, and Excel is required; experience working with Zoom or other virtual platforms is recommended.
  • Strong technology skills and ability to effectively utilize web-based training platforms and online learning management systems (LMS).
  • Strict adherence to timeframes, policy, and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
  • Ability to track and analyze data.
  • Attained age 21 years or older before first day of employment in position (ORR).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with immigrant populations.
  • Knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare.
  • ORR experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish written, read and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and agency regulations.
  • Knowledge of adolescent developmental issues, trauma, abuse and neglect, substance abuse and dependence, delinquency, peer influence, and related group and individual interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, develop, and deliver live online or in person high-quality training, coaching, and technical assistance services for staff in the HS/PRS program, including case managers, case aides, supervisors, and support staff.
  • Develop and update new staff onboarding curriculum for required pre-service trainings with the supervision of the Assistant Program Director.
  • Facilitate onboarding trainings with new staff in a live online format and through recorded webinars as well as in-person sessions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of annual trainings in the areas of child welfare, behavioral health, child trafficking, and other topics as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
  • Train staff on new policies and procedures with the collaboration of the Assistant Program Director.
  • Work in collaboration with supervisor to conduct training needs assessments and analyze various data to identify training needs.
  • Analyze and respond to training evaluations to improve presentation content, delivery and effectiveness.
  • Deliver and coordinate external facing trainings for providers working with unaccompanied children.
  • Maintain working knowledge of best practices and trends in the field and share relevant, ongoing professional development opportunities with the HS/PRS network.
  • Understand and comply with all policies and procedures of the program and interpret them for staff, as needed.
  • Research relevant subject matter/topics to create accurate and relevant training and support materials.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a thorough knowledge and application of the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies & practices.
  • Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization.
