Our Job Corps programs provide life-changing services that help young people succeed in school, obtain good jobs, excel in their chosen fields, and serve as contributing members of their communities. We accomplish this through an intense commitment to safety, quality service, excellence, and partnerships. The position involves conducting Trainee Employee Assistance Program assessments, developing intervention plans, and making referrals for identified students. The counselor will also develop, implement, and facilitate Trainee Employee Assistance Program prevention groups and programs, provide counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education, and network with center staff and community agencies to provide support services to students.

  • Conducts Trainee Employee Assistance Program assessments and develops intervention plans.
  • Makes referrals for identified students.
  • Develops, implements, and facilitates Trainee Employee Assistance Program prevention groups and programs.
  • Provides counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education.
  • Networks with center staff and community agencies to provide support services to students.
  • Participates in department system for student feedback and concerns.
  • Assists in developing center operating procedures for program components.
  • Works with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Center Physician, Health Services staff, and other designated staff to ensure intervention components are fully understood and integrated in the center.
  • Works in conjunction with the Recreation Department to assist in developing leisure activities and incentives to reinforce Trainee Employee Assistance Program lifestyle.
  • Acts as liaison to Center Mental Health Consultant and Center Standards Officer for Trainee Employee Assistance Program issues.
  • Performs quality assurance record audits.
  • Maintains Trainee Employee Assistance Program statistics for quarterly reporting to Department Of Labor.
  • Assures collection and handling comply with chain of custody procedures.
  • Supports Center Tobacco Use Prevention Program through education and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • LCDC II Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Licensed II.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills and English language comprehension.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
