As a member of our team, you will help deliver highly skilled patient focused care within the Radiology Imaging Service throughout Gloucestershire. The post exists to provide training to become an Assistant Practitioner in Radiography. Both internal and external training will be provided and successful completion of this will enable the post holder to practice as a competent Assistant Practitioner. The post holder will perform supervised radiography examinations in accordance with current departmental guidelines, policies and protocols, while providing a high level of patient care. The post holder will be able to produce good quality diagnostic images while safely using highly complex technical equipment. The post holder will work in both acute and community hospitals cross-county.

  • Provide specific imaging services within a specific scope of practice to the local population.
  • Work under the direct supervision of a registered Radiographer.
  • Develop core skills including patient care and understanding of the science and technology used in modern healthcare.
  • Perform clerical duties as per departmental need.
  • Conduct routine QA equipment testing.
  • Assist and support colleagues and patients throughout clinical and radiological procedures.
  • Perform general housekeeping and infection control tasks.
  • 5 GCSE's grade A*-C including Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Ability to work under pressure with accuracy while maintaining a cheerful and empathetic disposition.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, independently and as part of a team.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Ability to think quickly and assess clinical situations.
  • Evidence of Further Training.
  • Appropriate work experience in the NHS or other healthcare environment.
  • Evidence of appropriate ongoing work-related development (maintained portfolio).
  • Experience of using departmental computerised patient systems - NBSS, PACS and CRIS.
  • Anatomical knowledge.
  • Awareness of Radiology and different modalities.
