About The Position

Responsibilities

• Observance of Operating and Safety Procedures
• Coupling and uncoupling of railcars and lining track switches
• Working with Facility/Plant personnel on coordinating railcar moves
• Opening and closing of railcar doors
• Operating switch engine upon being trained to do so
• Perform periodic maintenance which includes: adding oil to engine, adding sand and water to engine, lubricating all hinges, replacing all worn dc electric motor brushes within locomotive, changing all filters, adding traction motor grease to motors and removing dirt from electrical cabinets
• Book keeping/filing of track and periodic reports
• Perform other Switchman duties as assigned
