About The Position

The position involves working as a Trailer Mechanic for Dayton Freight Lines, where the individual will perform maintenance service on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers. The role requires a fundamental understanding of repairing and rebuilding various components of trailers, including suspension, landing gear, wheel components, brakes, electrical systems, and more. The mechanic will also conduct preventative maintenance inspections, maintain welding and metal fabrication skills, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Possess a valid Driver's License.
• Basic math skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance service on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers.
• Repair and rebuild components including suspension, landing gear, wheel components, brakes, electrical systems, and more.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
• Maintain a high level of welding and metal fabrication skills.
• Perform service calls and road tests vehicles to ensure quality repairs.
• Assist and guide junior technicians.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment compliant with OSHA and company standards.
• Record all work and labor in the EMS system.
• Coordinate with the Parts Department to maintain proper inventory levels.
• Comply with EPA regulations and DOT safety requirements.
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
