Purdy Brothers Trucking Company, a PS Logistics company, was founded in 1972 with three units and a base of operations in Knoxville, TN. We have grown steadily over the years as a truckload carrier of refrigerated and dry van goods. Today, we serve the contiguous forty-eight states in the United States, as well as Canada, with a combined company and owner/operator fleet that has tripled in size in the past ten years! Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to: Assemble and dissemble vehicle engines and cleaning fuel tanks Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems and components Perform preventative maintenance measures on semi-trucks and trailers Assemble and dissemble vehicle engines and cleaning the fuel tanks Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts, including tires. Check and repair the brake, electrical and hydraulic systems. Test all systems and equipment for performance issues Ensure that trailers meet the US DOT’s road safety requirements Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management Respond as soon as possible to client queries A Successful Trailer Mechanic must consistently demonstrate the company’s Mission and Values. They must have good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, drivers and other team members in person and on the telephone. They must be customer service-oriented as well as team-oriented and must have good organizational skills. A successful Trailer Mechanic must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Finally, they must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed to including weekends, evenings, and holidays. This job is an hourly position with no guarantees for career progression.
