Job Summary The Trailer Condition Specialist is responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and documenting the condition of trailers to ensure they meet customer loading standards. This role plays a critical part in the Shipping Department for our customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and crouch for extended periods
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and moving vehicles
  • Previous experience in trailer inspection, fleet maintenance, or transportation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations (preferred)
  • Ability to identify mechanical and structural issues
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Basic computer or tablet skills for inspection reporting
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in trailer inspection, fleet maintenance, or transportation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations (preferred)
  • CDL (not required but a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and detailed inspections of trailers to ensure they meet customer standards for loading.
  • Inspect structural components such as frames, floors, roofs, walls, doors, and landing gear
  • Identify safety issues, mechanical defects, and compliance violations
  • Document inspection findings accurately using inspection forms
  • Tag and report trailers that are unsafe or out of service
  • Report on equipment that does not meet standards to supervisor and customer representatives
  • Perform Reinspection of equipment once repairs are completed
  • Remove nails and debris from the floor to prepare trailer for loading
  • Maintain clean and organized inspection areas
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
