About The Position

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for strong and competent Trail Maintenance Workers to join our Trails Department! The Trail Maintenance Worker is responsible for the clearing of logs, brushes and rocks from trail corridors. This position is also responsible for building, improving and cleaning of trail drainage structures such as water bars, check dams, drain clips and French drains. This position assists in the construction of new trails and the realignment of existing trails, closing and rehabilitation/obliteration of unsustainable trails, construction and/or maintenance of structures including bridges, steps, culvers and turnpikes, and in the installation and removal of trail system signage. Requirements

  • Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time.
  • Work well as part of a team.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  • Must be willing to work holidays and busy periods.
  • Requires possession of valid Class C Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the Association insurance carrier.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), AED, and First Aid certifications recommended.
  • Ability to use a Garmin GPS device and a clinometer.
  • Knowledge and experience designing and constructing sustainable trails preferred.
  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) months’ related work experience, plus six (6) months’ supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.

  • Knowledge and experience designing and constructing sustainable trails preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the trail system.
  • Cut trees and brush in the trail system.
  • Assists forestry crew with piling and/or chipping brush and slash.
  • Assists forestry crew with burning slash piles in either spring or fall.
  • Leads trail maintenance crew in the absence of Trails Manager and Field Supervisor.
  • Assist with the design and construction of sustainable trails.
