About The Position

The Trail Maintenance Specialist performs essential upkeep across Uintah County’s trail systems. Responsibilities include brushing, lopping, and tread repair using a variety of hand and power tools, including chainsaws and pick mattocks. This role focuses on sustainability, utilizing dry stone masonry for drainage and modern techniques for new trail construction. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality results that meet County standards, maintain equipment in peak condition, and strictly follow field safety protocols while actively engaging with community volunteers during events. Qualified candidates must possess a valid Utah Driver’s License and have experience in trail construction and maintenance. Proficiency in operating hand chainsaws and heavy equipment—specifically skid-steers and mini-excavators, alongside the ability to safely tow and maneuver trailers. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader capable of organizing volunteer groups and utilizing specialized tools such as the Pulaski and McLeod. While the Utah OHV Education Course is required, First Aid/CPR and Power Tool Safety certifications may be obtained on the job. This seasonal opportunity offers a wage of $18.00 per hour.
