About The Position

Trail Crew is a small team tasked with building and maintaining an extensive network of hiking and multi-use trails across more than 5,000 acres. This type of work will require the use of chainsaw and hand tools and will be quite strenuous at times. Working outside, thought out the summer, in all weather conditions will be required. The schedule is four day/10 hour work week, typically Monday - Thursday. Other Mountain Operation projects Trail Crew members participate in may include, but are not limited to: mountain and facility clean up, slope reclamation, burning slash piles, support for excavation, support for road construction and maintenance.

Requirements

• Experience with chainsaws, and hand tools preferred but not required
• Trail building experience and forestry awareness is preferred
• Must be able to hike and work at elevations up to 11,000 feet
• Valid Driver's license required
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Responsible use of hand tools, chainsaws and other equipment
• Raking trail, digging dirt, tree falling, tree liming, tree bucking, and stacking slash piles
• Working around heavy equipment
• Following best practices to build and maintain trails from the Mountain Village to the summit of Lone Mountain
• Standing and walking for long periods of time on uneven mountainous terrain
• Must work as a team and contribute to a team effort by good communication and sharing job responsibilities
• Responsible for keeping trucks, equipment, locker rooms and the resort clean
• Use considerable judgement to adapt methods to meet new requirements
• Must be able to complete jobs accurately with little direction and work independently
• Being prepared to work in remote location for length of shift
• Position requires extreme physical exertion
• Must be physically fit; must be able to lift, pull and push up to 50lbs unassisted, carry heavy equipment, and hike to remote job locations
