About The Position

The Trail Crew Laborer works during the summer season under the direction of the Trail Crew Manager to clear runs and trails of debris and obstacles. The role involves various tasks related to trail maintenance and construction, ensuring the safety and accessibility of ski runs.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn and perform trail maintenance and construction.
  • Ability to safely use the heavy hand tools associated with trail maintenance and construction (e.g. chainsaw, loppers, shovels, picks, etc.).
  • Willingness and ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and challenging environments.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team setting in a dynamic outdoor environment.
  • Chainsaw operators must have current training from an approved course/instructor (on the job certification available).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with saws, picks, shovels, rock bars, loppers, and brush cutters.
  • Knowledge of the ski industry.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Trim and cut vegetation and debris, move rocks, and pick up trash on ski runs.
  • Swamp and pile slash.
  • Fell and cut trees using chainsaw.
  • Become educated on tree and vegetation species, diseases, and treatment plans.
  • Travel to work area via 4WD vehicle, ATV, snowmobile, and/or foot.
  • Help maintain cache of trail tools and various equipment.
  • Burn piles of slash using fuel and torches.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees/managers in person and via telephone and two-way radio.
  • Participate in regular employee safety meetings.
  • Perform other tasks and assist other departments as required.
