About The Position

A Traffic Systems Technician I job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works department within the Traffic Management Division. Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with residents, contractors, and customers? Would you like to improve the safety of the citizens and visitors to Fort Worth? We are seeking a Traffic Systems Technician I to install, repair, and maintain the street light system for the city. The successful candidate will be required to work outside, during inclement weather, at night and on weekends for special events or emergency call-backs, and at heights of at least 30 feet.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in electrical construction or electrical maintenance construction
  • Valid Texas Class "C" driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Electronics or related field
  • Specialized licenses or certifications, such as an Apprentice Electrician or Journeyman Electrical Licenses, IMSA Certifications, bucket truck certification, or derrick/digger certification
  • Candidates with computer software experience

Responsibilities

  • Planning, designing, installing repairing and maintaining the pavement markings, signs, and street lights for the City of Fort Worth.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control systems, specifically street lights.
  • Operate various specialized tools and equipment related to traffic control system maintenance.
