About The Position

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is accepting online applications for a Traffic Signal Technician I with the Public Works departments. The employee performs difficult skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices; does related work as required. Employees in this class perform the more skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, repair and trouble shooting of traffic control signal devices. Traffic Signal Technicians are expected to work independently on routine assignments; however professional supervisors are available to advise and assist on unusual assignments. The work is performed under the supervision of the Traffic Systems Specialist or the Traffic Signs and Markings Specialist.

Requirements

• Completion of high school or GED
• Experience in electrical and/or electronics equipment and systems
• Possession of a valid commercial driver's license issued by the State of Tennessee
• Ability to determine the cause of and correct the malfunction of traffic control devices
• Good physical condition
