Assists with performing skilled maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting work with electrical systems. Performs electrical work in areas including signal controllers, general traffic signals including Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) and School Flashers, and streetlights. Work involves the technical application of electrical principles and mechanical aptitude. This is the entry-level position for this job family. Individuals entering this level must already possess the basic knowledge of the work, motor skills, mechanical skills, and physical capabilities to carry out basic tasks. Typically performs the simplest pertinent tasks, assists higher-level workers in more complex jobs, and prepares or puts away tools. The position may be part of an apprentice program; the position may be classified as an Apprentice if such a program/class exists. The position is distinguished from a semi-skilled laborer in that this position routinely uses tools appropriate to higher-level skilled positions. Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks. Carry out repairs related to work orders for streetlights and traffic signals with supervision support if required.
