About The Position
Under direct supervision perform traffic data collection, traffic signal timing, traffic signal coordination, and traffic systems monitoring for effective traffic control; and perform related work as required. This position is responsible to perform technical office and field sub-professional work in support of the City's traffic signal operations in the Engineering Division. Positions in this class have some independence in selecting work methods from a variety of standard methods or procedures. Instructions given by the supervisor generally do not provide all of the information needed to complete the assignment. Incumbents are expected to resolve most problems confronted through the application of judgment and precedent, referring to the supervisor only those which involve the establishment of new procedures, deviate from approved plans or which involve solutions which are inconsistent with departmental procedures and policies.
