Under general supervision, installs, repairs, and maintains traffic signs, posts, markings, and associated equipment. Participates in the operations of a traffic sign crew. Completes all types of traffic sign installations, repairs, and maintenance from work orders and location sketches. Makes field decisions concerning traffic sign locations. Meets and confers with utility company representatives for obtaining underground clearances. Operates and maintains a sign truck and associated equipment. Leads and instructs other mechanics and associates. Lays out and installs school crosswalks, intersection markings, prefabricated lane arrows, railroad crossings, and other road markings. Makes field decisions concerning installations. Operates and maintains a centerline paint truck. May participate in a 24-hour emergency response crew. Performs other related duties as required.
