About The Position

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Atlanta February 11th - 12th. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026. The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines. On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Atlanta, GA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities. AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, motivated-to-learn Traffic/Safety Engineering Intern for employment in the Atlanta, GA office. Working with project managers and lead engineers, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Must have completed one year of study.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and basic data science concepts.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and willingness to learn advanced techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist Traffic Safety and Traffic Operations professionals as needed.
• Research and analyze vehicular and vulnerable road user (pedestrian, bicyclist, personal conveyance device user, or worker in a work zone) crash data.
• Provide analysis to support development of design or operational ideas and solutions.
• Develop an awareness of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Research alternate solutions and design options in support of the project team, e.g. white paper research.
• Assist in preparation of studies, conceptual designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
• Communicate and collaborate in a team environment and adapt to dynamic project needs.
