About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for managing all activities related to outbound shipments with carriers and internal staff to optimize routing, provide cost containment measures and ensure customer satisfaction. Partner with internal departments and vendors to ensure Kaplan traffic standards are met and supervise / coach traffic department staff members.

Requirements

  • Four to five years of general clerical experience, including one to two years of traffic/dispatch experience and logistics management.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are required.
  • Knowledge of the transportation industry is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Microsoft Access and intermediate-level Excel, is required.
  • The successful candidate must be analytical, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The role requires a proactive, flexible professional who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and can work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • The incumbent must be able to make independent decisions and take appropriate action based on established guidelines, traffic knowledge, and internal/external customer requirements, while providing exceptional service to customers and building strong carrier relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily schedule for special pick-up and deliveries for K-truck and local / non-local deliveries to include dispatching drivers, identifying appropriate routing and coordinating driver pick-up / drop-off.
  • Evaluate and shift resources as needed to ensure delivery schedules and internal demands are satisfied.
  • Ensure release of product for delivery is coordinated with internal departments.
  • Manage processing and approval of associated driver expense and mileage documents and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance/service requirements and rental truck availability.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and carriers to evaluate and resolve problems associated with carriers, shipments, billing, scheduling or dispatching to ensure the highest level of delivery service for our customers and cost containment.
  • Communicate changes in related traffic activities to appropriate internal/external customers and direct all changes in service.
  • Manage the release, pick up and documentation requirements for international shipments.
  • Obtain freight quotes and complete all necessary documents and labeling to comply with international shipping standards.
  • Manage carrier relations and source the most cost-efficient routing and/or carrier for new items and special shipments while upholding service requirements for our internal/external customers.
  • Evaluate and drive department work efficiency.
  • Ensure Outlet Store customer orders are processed and inspected.
  • Promote a welcoming brand image and excellence in service when customers pick up purchase(s).
  • Accurately process shipping documents and ensure filing and reporting is maintained to track traffic issues (shortages, damages, etc.), and special deliveries (K-truck, playground, etc.).
  • Responsible for supervising, hiring and coaching staff members.
  • Manage time / attendance and performance.
  • Enforce DOT requirements and promote employee safe work practices.
