About The Position

This National Guard position is for a Traffic Management Specialist, Position Description Number D2422000 and is part of the 158th Logistics Readiness Squadron Traffic Management Flight of the Vermont Air National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Distribution Traffic Management Specialist, which provides technical expertise, support and execution relating to the movement of equipment, supplies, and personnel for both peacetime and wartime. Manages, directs, develops, plans, and analyzes Deployment and Distribution programs.

Requirements

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience that provided a general knowledge and understanding of traffic or transportation programs or operations.
  • 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.
  • Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical transportation advisor to all statewide operating officials on all matters dealing with commercial movement of personnel and equipment.
  • Analyzes and advises on transportation considerations relative to the domestic and international movement of equipment, supplies, and personnel via all commercial transportation modes.
  • Ensures that traffic management and transportation services required to support the mission are accomplished.
  • Inspects, or provides for inspection of, commercial carrier terminals to locate and expedite delivery of astray government shipments.
  • Procures domestic and international travel for both military and civilian passengers.
  • Maintains all transportation related automated systems and databases to support the Traffic Management Programs for the State.
  • Accomplishes the full spectrum of support for state and Federal National Guard operations, training, readiness missions, natural disasters, and Homeland Defense/Defense Support of Civil Authorities.
