About The Position

Responsible for scheduling the shipment of orders to customers and for the accuracy of the building of loads. Monitors inventories, tracks progress of shipping activity, and reviews factors which affect schedules. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a DC environment. Lead staff and support supervisor with training, addressing performance and providing guidance.

Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Requires 2-4 years of experience in general office in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Requires prior experience working in traffic and distribution is required.
  • Requires prior experience as a lead.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess typing skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of incoming calls.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must be able to interface with all levels of Meyer employees.
  • Must possess mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MS Office, WMi and NetSuite software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enter shipping information according to Order Management department specifications.
  • Creates waves, load plans and establishes shipping schedules.
  • Maintain close contact and work jointly with Customer Service department to solve any problems with orders.
  • Call freight companies to schedule merchandise pick up.
  • Ensure that paperwork and freight bill information is correct to avoid charge backs.
  • Allow delivery and freight drivers access to the building, and page the party needed accordingly.
  • Ensure that rush orders are shipped by requested dates.
  • Assist with the updating and maintenance of routing guides for all customers to avoid charge backs.
  • Research and identify charge backs for routing violation.
  • Build small package loads.
  • Prepare and fax manifest that shows order detail for pick up as requested by customers and freight carriers.
  • Conduct required training for new employees.
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts as needed.
  • Oversee, assist and support staff members with any issues regarding order processing and merchandise receiving; and be familiar with all aspects of picking, receiving and small packaging functions, shipping, and pre-ticketing operations. Pick, move and load/unload merchandise utilizing a forklift as necessary.
  • Ensure that all departments for the shift are efficiently covered and coordinate all working hours to maximize performance. Responsible for eliminating waste in labor usage.
  • Monitor the departments’ workload and determine the number of pending and the number of processed orders on a daily basis. Ensure that all orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for working with the Inventory Control Team to ensure warehouse location optimization as well as the current slotting of all products based on specifications in the Warehouse Management System (WMi).
  • Management of the Item Master database within the company system as assigned.
  • Work with Inventory Control Team to validate that high velocity SKU’s are located within the main picking areas and rotation of items deemed to be slow movers.
  • Responsible for all inventory moves to include all replenishment operations for the Pick area in a timely and efficient manner to support and optimize pick velocities.
  • Responsible for the management of the material handling equipment for assigned Operations area.
  • Coordinate with Support Services and Planning Department to ensure containers are received timely for scheduled shipments.
  • Maintain close contact and work jointly with Traffic Department to solve any problems related to order processing and inventory.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all inbound containers with the Dray Company to ensure containers arrive on time to meet shipping schedules.
  • Conduct safety meetings for the department on a monthly basis to ensure that all personnel are properly trained and complying with safety issues.
  • Oversee the Receiving Team Leaders to ensure all receiving, put away and replenishment processes are completed as scheduled.
  • Oversee the operation of the conveyer systems for assigned work area, be able to troubleshoot problems, make user level adjustment and ensure it remains operational. Issue necessary maintenance requests.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by the VP of Distribution & Facilities.
