Under general supervision, inspects and analyzes local traffic conditions. Conducts counts, surveys, studies, and related traffic control investigations.

Conducts traffic counts, surveys, and studies.
Investigates field conditions, and determines the need for new traffic control installations, or the modification or replacement of existing installations.
Investigates complaints and reports of potential traffic hazards.
Reviews work zone traffic control.
Conducts neighborhood traffic management studies.
Prepares reports and summarizes statistics regarding findings.
Prepares sketches of existing conditions and proposed traffic control changes such as channelization plans and signal and marking plans.
Prepares and writes traffic legislation proposals.
Initiates and prepares work orders.
Makes field inspections to ensure work was completed in accordance with prepared plans and specifications.
Performs other related duties as required.
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent.
Two years' experience in traffic operations, subprofessional engineering, surveys, and/or a related field.
Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
Additional education in one of the fields listed above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
