About The Position

WSP USA is offering a Full-Time Traffic Engineering Intern position for Summer 2025 in their Lawrenceville, NJ office. This internship is designed for students currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program, providing hands-on experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning. Interns will work closely with senior staff on real projects, gaining valuable mentorship and networking opportunities through the Developing Professionals Network.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable of taking direction from leadership and mentors.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Masters or PhD program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2025 or later.
  • Experience using Microstation, Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, and/or VISSIM.
  • Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with traffic engineering and transportation planning projects including traffic studies and multi-modal planning.
  • Contribute to road safety projects such as Road Safety Audits and crash analysis.
  • Assist with transportation design projects including traffic design and ITS design.
  • Support various engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Assist in project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
