CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic & ITS Team in Miami, FL or Coral Springs, FL. In this role, you will contribute to innovative traffic engineering and ITS solutions that address congestion, enhance safety, and optimize transportation operations for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users alike. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required; roadway, traffic, and/or ITS design experience preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with FDOT ITS standards preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Independently complete traffic engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for traffic & ITS projects
  • Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of traffic control, signal systems, and ITS infrastructure to improve safety and mobility
  • Identify and resolve technical discrepancies related to traffic & ITS operations, applying standard procedures and best practices for safety and infrastructure resilience
  • Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical transportation projects
  • Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments
